Scanners And Secret Frequencies (Electronic Underground)

Scanners And Secret Frequencies (Electronic Underground)This cynical and immensely entertaining book describes the scanner world, the people in it, the equipment they use, and how they acquire and tune in to the "secret" frequencies.

Customer Review: Desperately needs an update

All technology and frequencies referenced are over 15 years old at this point. That's several lifetimes in scanning. For example, trunking and digital transmission are referred to as future technologies! Sadly, as a result, over half of the book is obsolete to the point of being useless.

In its day it was deep enough to keep your average hobbyist busy for several years. Were the author to update it this would be one of the best reference manuals around.

Customer Review: outdated

This book has a copyright date of 1995. Some of the information and laws have changed since this book has been written. The scanners that are on the market today did not exist 12 years ago, therefore most of the information on the scanner itself is hopelessly outdated. Other than radio theory which at times can be confusing, this book is a waste of time.
